Energetic Performance Survey

Diagnostic Performance Energétique - DPE

The Energy Performance Survey is carried out in order to inform the future buyer or tenant of the energy consumption and the level carbon emissions resulting from the heating, production of hot water and cooling of the building; in order for the buyer or tenant to compare different properties; and to encourage improvements to economise energy consumption and to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

The diagnostiqueur takes note of all building elements affecting the thermal performance of the building (insulation, glazing, ventilation) together with all heating, hot water production and cooling systems. This data is inputted into a computer software program to calculate the energy consumption and carbon emissions based on the conventional use of the building and the local climatic conditions.

The current legislation was brought into force on the 1st November 2006 and the Energy Performance Survey report is valid for 10 years.
