Mrs Buckle - May 2012
We had an absolutely terrific week at Chateau P at the end of May.
We are two families with three children each. The chateau itself is stunning with great character and charm while maintaining a luxuriously comfortable feel.
A highlight for us was the games room which includes a billiard table and football table. There was more than enough room for all of us and the kitchen amply met our needs.
Outside, there is a good sized pool (I think 10 X 5) with heaps of sun lounges and chairs. The pool area is nicely landscaped and the pool was very clean. The pool is close to the pigeonnier which means that there is a bathroom and kitchen facilities at close hand.
There is also a great tennis court which looks new. A barbeque area under cover of a terracotta roofed terrace is a fantastic feature as we had most meals out there.
Because the amenities at the chateau were so brilliant, we hardly did any day trips. It was like being at our own private resort. However, we did manage a couple of wineries which were lovely.
The caretakers, Denise and Peter, were superb. They maintained the perfect balance of care with discretion. The chateau was absolutely spotless when we arrived and we cannot speak highly enough of their lovely manner. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
We drove 12 hours from London to get to Chateau P and I would do it again in a heart beat. This was our sixth holiday together as families. We have been to enormous houses in Scotland, the Lake District, and the Loire Valley. We all said that this one was by far the best.
I cannot recommend it highly enough.
